This year's build program will see us delivering 17 training courses across Melbourne and Brisbane with over 400 emerging professionals leaving their mark on each build.
Constructionarium Australia is kicking off its 2024 build program, which will see the not-for-profit deliver 17 training courses in Melbourne and Brisbane, supporting the professional development of over 400 emerging professionals in the infrastructure and engineering sector through a unique, immersive training program.
Commencing in Melbourne on 7th February, the first two Victorian builds are in partnership with Spark Consortium as the lead contractor. Comprising Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering & Construction, and China Construction Oceania, Spark is delivering the North East Link Program’s primary package (North East Link Tunnels), including 6.5km of three-lane twin road tunnels to provide the missing transport link between the M80 and the Eastern Freeway.
Constructionarium Australia’s Nicky Vaisey said, “2024 will be our biggest ever year as we work with our partners and supporters to provide training, connections, and networks to emerging professionals to support capacity building, collaboration, and personal professional development. Across each training program, our participants gain over three years of project experience as they work to deliver a major structure from tender to client handover in eight days, operating under real-world conditions, safety protocols, budgets and schedules.”
“We would like to welcome Spark to the Constructionarium Australia family! Their participation is a testament to the consortium's commitment to collaboration and investment in people and education, and we are very excited to welcome our first cohort to the training centre in Hallam. I would also like to thank our partners from across the sector who provide support, resources, mentoring and expertise to bring each build program to life as we work collaboratively to create unique learning and development experiences centred on the practical realities of major project delivery.”
Spark Project Director Roman Garrido welcomed the opportunity to be part of the first two builds of 2024.
“We’re looking forward to being involved in this year’s Constructionarium – providing our workforce with the opportunity to develop their skills and gain real world experience on delivering a project from start to finish.”
In addition to an expanded build program, Constructionarium Australia is working with partners to add new structures to the program, enabling more areas of specialism to benefit from participation.
“We are working with a number of partners to design and create new replicable structures that can provide different experiences for users. Plans are being finalised for a small-scale pumped hydro water battery to debut in Brisbane in the first half of the year, and we are in the early stages of discussions to develop a rail project to support the nation's significant investment in major rail projects. Each new structure will become a new centrepiece for training and development and will integrate new professions into the program, further building capacity across our industry and showcasing the potential career pathways for the next generation of talented infrastructure leaders,” said Nicky.
