Constructionarium Australia is delighted to announce that Georgiou Group will be the lead contractor for the November 2021 Story Bridge Build.

Constructionarium Australia is delighted to announce that Georgiou Group will be the lead contractor for the November 2021 Story Bridge Build.

Taking place at the Construction Training Centre in Salisbury from 24 November to 3 December, the program will challenge a cohort of undergraduate, post-graduate and emerging construction and infrastructure professionals to build a replica of Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge.

Weighing in at over 4 tonnes and 30 metres in length, the bridge is the centrepiece of an eight-day training program that mixes classroom and on-site designed to provide undergraduate and early career professionals with real-world experience as they manage a major construction project from tender to completion.

Gary Georgiou, Executive General Manager Eastern Region of Georgiou Group, outlined the organisation’s excitement at taking part in a Constructionarium Australia build.

“Everyone at Georgiou is excited to be part of Constructionarium Australia. Over the last couple of years, we have seen the program develop and become a cornerstone of theoretical and practical training for our industry’s emerging talent. At Georgiou, we are committed to being ‘the best people to work with’ and partnering with Constructionarium Australia aligns with our commitment to our people and the development of our industry.”

As part of the project, Georgiou will support the cohort with project management expertise, mentoring, and advice to deliver their project to time, budget, and specification.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for Georgiou team members to be part of the program as the project manager and participants. We look forward to seeing their professional development continue and to see the benefits of the networks and experiences they will gain across the eight days,” said Gary.

Harry Hartman, Executive Director of Constructionarium Australia, thanked Georgiou for their support.

“Constructionarium Australia cannot exist without the support of Australia’s major contractors, who provide time, resources, energy and enthusiasm to help us to provide a real-world training experience for the sector’s emerging talent. On behalf of Constructionarium’s board, team members and build participants, I’d like to thank Georgiou for their support and commitment to our program. We are very excited to undertake our next build with Georgiou.”

Constructionarium Australia acknowledges and pays respect to the past and present Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
