On-Time and Under Budget – The Victorian Big Build Bridge is Open!

Under budget, on time and with a fabulous sense of celebration the Victorian Big Build Bridge was officially opened by Allen Garner, CEO of MRPV.

What an amazing eight days in Victoria!

Under budget, on time and with a fabulous sense of celebration the Victorian Big Build Bridge was officially opened by Allen Garner, CEO of MRPV.

Surrounded by a beaming cohort, guests from across the industry and supporters from our partners MRPV, BMD, Arcadis, Jaybro, Kallibr, Coates, Holcim, BestFab, Infrabuild and Glenn Hester Photography, the ribbon was cut and eight days of hard work, passion, effort and commitment were rewarded as our guests explored and the Victorian Big Build Bridge.

As the congratulations were shared with the cohort, and the cohort shared their reflections of the week, MRPV’s Allen Garner summed up the benefits of the Big Build Program, "We’re proud to be giving Victoria’s next generation of construction leaders their best chance of success, fostering their passion for infrastructure with the guidance and expertise of the most successful people in the industry."

Following on from the opening ceremony, the cohort undertook a final project controls and budget presentation to Allen Garner, Alesha Printz, Peter Anusas and Andrew Bethune, who, as any client should, went through the numbers with a fine toothcomb before giving them their approval.

For our lunch and learn Civil Contractor Federation Victoria’s Adrian Panozzo for a session on work-life balance and how to ensure that as our cohort’s careers flourish and grow that they have sound skills, advice and strategies for achieving a balance.

And then it was our final session, our panel discussion on Career Pathways in Infrastructure. We were thrilled to be joined by Fusun Yalcin Director HR of MRPV, Nicole Walsh of CCF, Chloe Twidale of BMD and John Sidthorpe of Arcadis who shared their insights, stories and advice for building a rewarding career in the Infrastructure Industry. It was a fantastic opportunity for our cohort to hear from people in a variety of roles and learn about their career pathways and history and gain an appreciation of how to build their careers.

And with that, the Victorian Big Build Program was completed. As our cohort heads off to their end of build celebrations, we think they can do so with the satisfaction of a job well done.
