After much deliberation, the tender panel made their final decision on who will build the Story Bridge.
After an intense three days of learning, collaboration and tender preparations, Team Merle and Team Else have worked tirelessly to achieve a tight tender deadline.
Throughout Friday morning, the teams put together their final documentation, prepared their presentations and ensured all plans were put in place, to meet the all-important closing time of noon. Once all the work was completed, both teams remained slightly on edge as they hit send and their emails went through the outbox and into the client’s inbox.
Sean Donald provided some welcome relief from the upcoming presentation nerves, reviewing “Georgiou Philosophy” with the groups. But then the teams were back into the closing brainstorming period before their final presentations.
The tender panel gathered and the competition was on. Team Else started off with a strong presentation, followed by Team Merle proving their worth. Throughout it all, it was clear the panel had a tough decision to make. They treated each bid presentation, as they would if analysing a tender in the real world; they asked the tough questions and challenged the teams when required.
Both groups presented impressive visuals, clear methodologies and confident pitches. Each team held their heads high, covered all the key aspects of their project, resourcing, budget and more, and handled questioning like true professionals. The camaraderie was clear with both teams engaging in some playful banter, all in good fun. Regardless of the hard work and nerves, it has been great to see the relationships and networks forming amongst them all.
After much deliberation, the tender panel made their final decision on who will build the Story Bridge.
Congratulations team Else!
The team celebrated taking part in the Contract Signing Ceremony, headed by Project Manager, Lachlan Taylor. The preparations will now begin with Telly Kapeleris as the Deputy Project Manager.
As in the true spirit of Constructionarium Australia, each team congratulated each other as it was a tough fight and quite an achievement putting together the briefs in such a short period of time. The teams will now rest over the weekend to prepare themselves for the build next week. The question everyone will be contemplating is how the weather will turn out.
